My writing has changed so much throughout the course of this class. When the class first started, I had never did as much writing and knew about the things of essays until I started this class. Now, I have so much knowlegde to different things. I know I have greatly improved because my papers startetd to get better, and my blogs started to get better as well. I knew what to expect and how to expect it as time went by in this class. I learned how to interact with my peers, and get feedback from them. Not only get feedback but give it as well. I overcame the challenges of procrasinating on my essays. I learned that getting things done ahead of time would be better than waiting until the last minute. I’m so glad I got the opportunity to take this class because it has taught me a lot and I’ve learned a lot from it as well.
Writing Experiences
My best writing experience in this class was the outlining part. It made writing and putting your paper together much easier. It was a great source of organizing. It helped you keep your stuff together and when it came down to write, it made it simple to just put all of your ideas together. My worst part would be making sure I don’t over phrase my words. I get so caught up in trying to sound so college level and not hight school, that I tend to get too deep into wording things. The best one for me was writing about should devices be allowed in classrooms. This one was simple because its something relatable. I know how it goes so it made the writing easier. The tough one was writing about theaters because I had no prior knowledge to theatres in Columbus. Me taking advantage and doing good in this class made it worth it.
Gun Control
The gun control debate is a ongoing debate referring to the second amendment. One view is the “right to bear arms” is an individual right not to be infringed upon government rules . This impacts the buy, sell, or use of any firearms. Gun control advocates contrast the second amendment very seriously. Although, those who think there should be stronger gun laws may push towards extensive back ground checks, and restrictions on who can buy certain kinds of guns , or even prohibit the sell of guns in the U.S. The debates today are more centered around the mass amount of school shootings that has happened across the country. The major issues is the guns are being used more for assault, and less for protection for an individuals life. Some people feel that the mental ill should not be able to buy and even come in close contact with a firearm ,and if so should be lock away for the killing of a individual. This is a non stop controversial topic one of the topics that america will never come to an agreement on.
Black Pioneers of Aviation
The 1920s was a very rough time for African americans but they made there mark none the less by achieving great heights literally. Ever heard the names Bessie Coleman , Eugene Jacques Bullard , or Cornelius Coffey. Probably not so but they have made a big impact on the african american people with there aviation skills. Willa Brown for example was the first African American woman to earn her pilot license in the united states when back then african americans where not even allowed to go to school for aviation. The Tuskegee Airmen where the first black military aviators in the U.S. Armed Forces. These where the first african american men to protect and serve there country and they where some of the best of the best too. Then we have the well known Bessie Coleman and Eugene Jacques Bullard , Bessie Coleman who is the most associated with african american aviation in the 1920s she was the first woman to earn her pilot license. Then we have Bullard was the first first african american military combat pilot. All these pilots changed the game for african americans in decades to come with there remarkable accomplishments.

AACC Fast Facts
The most surprising piece of information to me in the AACC Fast Facts is the difference in the tuition fees. The community college tuition is $3,660, and the university tuition is $10,230. That is a major difference is $6,570. Personally, community colleges are better than universities. Not just because they’re cheaper, but because community colleges gain better focus from students and they tend to focus better than attending a university. The expenses are just a bonus. You pay less money just to attend a community college, and you can get the same kind and amount of education. Starting off your college career in a community college may be a better choice for starters. It helps you get a feel of how college would be. But, just reading the article, the cost is what caught my attention the most.
General Henry L. Benning
Henry L. Benning the associate justice in the Supreme court of Georgia, and rank general in the civil war. The surprising things about him is that he was the confederate general in the states army. He commanded the “Benning’s Brigade” during the civil war. The fact that a historical landmark “Ft. Benning is named after the native who is general benning. Georgia was a confederate state so it should not shock any individual in the south. He participated in many battles to try and stop the union from invading Georgia. He then became an advocate for secession and which later on earned him his ranked. He was a stun general who was all about business when i came down to certain things. When the war broke out he help gather soldiers to fight off the union so that the nine salving holding states would remain slave states. Overall he became a known name across the state but most importantly he will never be forgotten for his act of duty.
Battle of Columbus
The battle of Columbus was the considered “the closing conflict of the war”. This battle is the Is the last battle of the civil war. One of the cause of this battle was because Columbus was the second largest industry in the confederacy If the union took Columbus out then the confederate soldiers would not be able to send there troop supply and food. The union wanted to destroy the confederate army in any possible way they could think of. This could have been avoided if General lee message got to General Wilson they surrendered.Without Mr. Pemberton getting hurt during this battle we would not have coke cola today as a soft drink. The battle is on battle that will always effect Columbus in positive and negative ways.
Carson McCullers
Carson McCullers life contributed to the characters in her novels in many ways. In her first novel “The Heart is a Lonely Hunter” which was based upon a death person from a small town which related to her because she also was from a small southern town. However, every novel that she wrote the character displayed some sort of medical issue. All of them were basically centered around someone living in a small town which was very relatable to her early life. She was a lonely person as a child ,because children would harass her ,and call her names. which later in life inspired her to wrote “The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter”. Entering the Julliard School hoping to become a musical prodigy failed due to her health issues ,which inspired her first published story “Wunderkind”, which related to her love for music but also her quitting music which turns her into her becoming a lonely person. Problems with her health and family brought ideas of writing. She expressed her loneliness and isolation ,by showing problems related to bisexuality, infidelity, hostility ,and murder. Most of her writing became a habit and became a big impact in life’s of other writers, she is still inspiring authors today with her work.
Cravings of Horror Movies
I agree with Stephen King’s his essay. I feel everyone is crazy in there own way. Regardless of how bad it is we should not be quick to judge what people do in public because we all do weird things behind closed door. If feel his cause and effects are that because are not as crazy as others we are easy to judge them and call them psycho. Also, feel he saying we only accept the things that society wants us to. As long we stay in the box society wants us to society is okay with what we do. Yet once we step out of our box we are kinda force to go back in our little box. That is why he says Its okay for us to go and see horror movies and not grossed out. Also why teens and younger groups are more interested in horror movies.
The Phenix City Story
The Phenix City story is full of violence and crime. This movie has a lot of meaning because it is based off of an actual story that the police were still investigating when the movie came out. What surprised me about the movie was John Patterson father dying before he could try to make a change in this town. Before knowing about this movie i never knew of nor heard of Albert Paterson. I also did not know that Phenix City was considered “Sin city, USA”. With all the crimes, violence ,and prostitution that was going on here if feel that it had to be numerous bodies found during this time. I feel the purpose of this movie is show all violence to see why we should stop it.
